Who are we? We are the Denver Gaels Camogie Team. If you don't know what camogie is - it is simply hurling for women and Americans can appreciate it as a type of combination of field hockey and lacrosse. See below for details on how to play hurling. This is a new team for the Denver Gaels and we are trying hard to get as many as possible new ladies out playing this great sport. There is no experience neccessary and everyone is welcome. What do we do? Throughout the Spring and Summer, we take part in the co-ed hurling pub league once a week, we hold hurling practice sessions during the midweek and we travel to and host other states in interstate games and tournaments - including the NACB finals every year on Labor Day weekend. When do we do it? In general, we play our pub leagues games every Sunday and we hold our practice sessions every Thursday and also on Tuesdays in August. See the hurling and camogie schedule of events for upcoming games and practices. Where do we do it? We play our pub league at Dicks Sporting Goods Park. We hold our mid week practices either in Garland Park or Cook Park, Denver. See the hurling and camogie schedule for exact details on where we will be for every event. What is camogie anyway?! Camogie is the ladies version of hurling. The rules are almost identical but less physical contact is permitted. Below are some videos that show the game in action. The 1st shows a part of the 2006 National League final between Cork and Tipperary. The second shows the the highlights from the 2008 championship and the last is a video montage of the Denver Gaels' exploits in 2008 - enjoy!
